Search Engine Optimization Journal Adds New Section to Educate the Curious about Google Page Ranking

Boston, MA (June 16, 2008) -- Search Engine Optimization Journal, a Brick Marketing blog covering a spectrum of topics on the increasingly important field of Search Engine Optimization, has added a new PageRank™ section to the website, promoting a broader understanding of what PageRank is and its relevance to Internet marketing. The term PageRank is a patented trademark of Google, the most popular search engine on the Internet by a wide margin. Google's own definition of PageRank™ states:

"PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages 'important'."

Since most Web users use Google to find information on the Internet and Google's share of Internet searches continues to rise, many companies are inclined to focus their Internet marketing efforts on attaining page rank with the industry heavyweight. The new PageRank™ section of the blog is intended to clarify some misunderstandings about the importance of page rank when certain keywords and phrases are entered into the search field of a search engine.

Companies seek a higher page rank on search results pages because they hope to attract more traffic to their websites and thus enhance their site's marketing potential. But for the purposes of Search Engine Optimization(SEO), focusing all their marketing efforts to achieve higher online visibility with one search engine, even though it is the most popular by far, can be counterproductive.

The new PageRank™ section of Search Engine Optimization Journal dispels some of the common myths about increasing a Web page's rank through SEO methods so companies seeking the advantages of SEO for their sites can gain a deeper understanding of how these strategies will help them achieve their goals.

Search Engine Optimization Journal, authored by renowned Internet marketing expert, Nick Stamoulis, is one of the Web's most visited blog sites about the many facets of Search Engine Optimization.

You, Here, Now! to Auction ChiefExecutive.org

Beverly Hills, CA  -- Businesses, services, non-profits and even speculators who value quality URL names will have the opportunity to purchase a URL that resonates authority, steadfastness, credibility and a business pedigree.

You, Here, Now!, a leading search engine strategist, has been retained to sell www.chiefexecutive.org, which has been independently appraised as offering top-tier recognition, marketability and development potential. The starting bid is $7,500.

As The New York Times reported on February 1st of this year, quality URLs have become "coins in the new realm." Times reporter Brad Stone cited the example of EuroDNS, which recently acquired 15 appealingly generic names, including chaptereleven.com and microfinacing.com for $150,000.

"These names will pay for themselves within two years," a EuroDNS executive told the newspaper. "The world is only now beginning to discover how important it is to have these assets."

www.chiefexecutive.org is not part of a major auction or a large collection, which means that potential end users can bid directly for the name along with those who trade in URLs for a living.

"Often, the best names, like this one, are only shopped between an elite few buyers," says a spokesperson for You, Here, Now! "But anyone, anywhere can bid on www.chiefexecutive.org "

Bidding on www.chiefexecutive.org is now open and will continue through 5 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time on Friday, June 27, 2008.

You, Here, Now! (http://www.youherenow.com) reserves the right to accept or reject any bid, including the right to accept a bid that is not the highest offered. (This is to permit YHN to weigh offers from the most reliable bidders.)

Bidders can contact YHN by email (bid@chiefexecutive.org) or by phone: 310-492-5858. Please submit your best offer, describe your source of funding, and provide all contact information including weekday phone number and valid email address.

Winning bidder will be directed to make payment within 5 business days via a recognized escrow agent. All bidders will be notified by email no later than July 3, 2008 of the final status of their offer.

Survey Shows that 46% of Online Marketers Rank SEO (Search Engine Optimization) as a Holiday Priority

A survey of online marketers taken at the Shop.org 2007 Annual Summit in Las Vegas finds that 46% rank SEO as their an important priority for the upcoming holiday season.

The survey, conducted in September 2007 by Cleveland-based Brulant Inc., found that search engine optimization ranked second behind email marketing (64%).

"Because most consumers give themselves a spending limit when it comes to holiday shopping, online retailers need to ensure they are successfully attracting and converting customers so that those holiday dollars don't get spent at a competitor's site instead," said a Brulant consumer goods executive.

Ad Agency Notes That Web Sites Can Be Beautiful -- But Useless -- If No One Can Find Them

"The most creative, cool, super stylistic ad doesn't mean a thing if no one sees it..." says G Advertising, which aims to deliver both SEO (search engine optimization) and aesthetics to its clients.

Once the aesthetics of an advertisement are in place, the agency says the focus must turn to its distribution.  "Distribution is always the most expensive part of a campaign, because if the creative is good it will last for years, but distribution is ongoing," G Advertising says.  "The more targeted the distribution is the better your ad spend is.  You must get the right message in front of the right buyer at the right time."

Expert on SEO Says 64% of Users Select Google as their Search Engine of Choice

The Search Engine Academy of South Carolina says in a news release issued on November 12, 2007 that Google considers more than 200 factors in determining relevancy for indexing.

In the same release, the SEO-educator, based in Lexington, S.C., cites statistics that credit Google for 64.13% of all user searches; Yahoo! with 21.26%; and MSN/Live with 9.15%.

"Search engine optimization is not all about who has the biggest marketing budget to withstand those costly PPC ads," says Tracy Fredrychowski, an instructor.
